Week one of the 2019 NFL season is in the books, and it was a wild one as usual. From the defensive struggle in the 100 year opener to Tom Brady and the Patriots dominating on Sunday night, the NFL came back to our living rooms with a vengeance.
Whether your fantasy team didn’t perform how you expected – you’re not alone – or absolutely crushed it in week one, now is the time to scrounge the waiver wire for the next breakout star.
Tonight the New Orleans Saints open up their 2019 season against the Houston Texans. The last time these two teams met was in November of 2015. In that game in Houston, the Saints managed only two field goals and the Texans got two touchdown passes from Brian Hoyer (to Ryan Griffin and Cecil Shorts) and a touchdown run by Alfred Blue to secure the 24-6 victory. New Orleans also hasn’t won their opener since 2013. Tonight will be a bit different.

First, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Kevin Walsh, and I am from Pittsburgh, PA. I have been playing DFS since DraftStreet still existed. This is my first season writing for The Scorecrow, and this is my first tournament rundown. I have written about DFS before, so hopefully, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I am a huge football and hockey fan, and I am always so engulfed in fantasy sports from September until January. I plan to give you a peek inside what I have going on in my head and hopefully lead you to some DFS success (as well as myself, of course), but enough about me, let’s get to the good stuff.
What a start to the 2019 NFL season! Antonio Brown has turned the Oakland Raiders into The Sopranos, while Julio Jones just signed a contract extension that is fully guaranteed. However, tomorrow we can get away from all the nonsense and enjoy 13 great football games. To help fantasy football players with their roster construction, three of our writers have provided some insight on which players they would start, would sit, and consider a sleeper for week one. Be sure to follow all of them on twitter and ask any of The Scorecrow’s fantasy writers for fantasy advice.
This article was posted last week as an early peek at value for week one. This is a revision of that article with all the pertinent news that has happened in a whirlwind week leading up to opening Sunday.
It’s finally week one in the NFL season and with such a complex fantasy football format, the IDP leagues are always tricky to dictate who to plug and play. Here are a couple of quick names to start going into the first week of the season.
The Detroit Lions are on the prowl. In Matt Patricia’s second season as Head Coach, the squad is hoping to improve on their 6-10 record from last season. In their way stands a host of foes. Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr, and Aaron Rodgers, just to name a few. To take down these men and take on the challenge of winning the NFC North, you must have a sound 53-man roster. 6-10 tells me there’s a lot of work to do, and I’m sure it says the same to my fellow readers. However, let’s become familiar with the roster that will be with us for this 2019 season.
