Who is the Next NBA Star to be Traded?

On Saturday the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans finally agreed on a trade that will send six-time All-Star Anthony Davis to the Lakers. In return, the Pelicans will receive Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round picks, including the fourth overall pick in Thursday night’s draft. For months the rumors and reports have been swirling that Davis would become a Laker and now it’s finally done.

Report: Jimmy Butler would ‘happily’ meet with Heat during free agency

As expected, Philadelphia 76ers guard Jimmy Butler will opt out of his $19.8M player-option for next season, as Chris Haynes reported earlier on Friday. He will join the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving as one of the top free agents on the market. According to Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds, once NBA Free Agency begins, Butler would gladly meet with the Miami Heat.

ACL Recovery -The Long Road Back

Klay Thompson suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter of game 6 of the NBA Finals Thursday night. This is just the latest in a long list of injuries suffered by the Golden State Warriors this season. This injury occurred just 3 days after Kevin Durant suffered a ruptured Achilles Tendon in Game 5.  The common issue in both of these injuries is that both players had recently returned from a different injury before suffering their more devastating injuries. Did the prior injury contribute to the new injury? Did the GSW medical staff doom the team because they cleared both Durant and Thompson to play? I am sure questions like these will make the rounds during this offseason.

What Now for the Warriors?

Eleven months ago, in an article detailing why the Boston Celtics were the favorites for the 2019 NBA title, I labeled the Golden State Warriors; dynasty as ‘fragile’. While my praise of the Celtics proved to be excessive (I wasn’t the only one), this description of the Warriors’ dominance proved to be correct, although I did not envisage it being a literal one.

The Toronto Raptors win the 2019 NBA Championship

Wow is all I can say. As a person who lives in Canada and has people who said “This is the most important moment in Canadian Sports since the Toronto Blue Jays were in the World Series 26 years ago”, I cannot state how much this championship means to the country of Canada and it’s loyal and well deserving fans. The raw emotion spewing from “Jurassic Park”, the Raptors fan hangout area in Toronto was electric and fascinating to experience.  All I can say to this championship is “Oh Canada”! In this article we will go over to the journey the Raptors took to get here and the trials they experienced, through the perspective of a Canadian.

Durant and the Warriors are No Longer the Villains

From the moment Kevin Durant stunned the basketball world by signing for the Golden State Warriors in July 2016, he and the team from the Bay have been the NBA’s most notorious villains. Durant had finished the previous season, his last with the Oklahoma City Thunder, by blowing a 3-1 lead to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. Three weeks later, his new team-mates also managed to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory, as they squandered their own 3-1 advantage, handing the Cleveland Cavaliers their inaugural title in the most humiliating fashion.

Candace Parker’s Return to Hoops: Could this be a Championship Season for the Sparks?

Candace Parker, who has not played in a single game this season due to an injury to her hamstring, has apparently started getting workouts in with Sparks player development coach Jamal “Dash” Lovell. Parker shared a photo last Friday on social media with Lovell and Orlando Magic point guard Michael Carter-Williams with the caption “ALWAYS the class clown. Great work last night wit my guys.” Could this mean that the Sparks legend is on the verge of return?

The Lone Raptor

The Toronto Raptors are just one game away from potentially being NBA Champions, and that’s great news for basketball. Whenever a new team takes over the reins of the league (which, don’t get me wrong, is still far from a guarantee still), it is, but now it’s a whole new country.
