The NBA Draft just concluded and the newly added recruits are heading to their new organizations. This year’s draft class was filled with pick swaps, surprising picks, and big trades. Within the first pick selection, the league saw a huge trade that sent Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Montrezl Harrell and the 22nd pick in the draft.
With 2021 NBA free agency right around the corner, we’re taking a look at the top ten restricted free agents of the 2021 NBA offseason.
The Atlanta Hawks finished the season with a 41-31 record. They started the season poorly which resulted in the firing of Lloyd Pierce a month into the season. Time once again for the Daily Dollar, my gambling cohorts. It’s a beautiful weekend for sports betting. If you behave, I may just toss you a Fourth of July winner as a bonus at the end.
Here at the gambling corner, our weekends are determined by if we have some winners. So, let’s end this weekend with some cash.
The Atlanta Hawks second-round series went seven games. After losing Game 6 at home, Trae Young took the Hawks into Philadelphia and led his team to victory. Young was 5-23 in the game but he recorded 11 assists and scored 10 points in the fourth quarter. Kevin Huerter also chipped in with 27 points and the Hawks shocked the world by eliminating the top-seeded 76ers. The 76ers may have been the top seed but the Bucks are the better team. With Antetokounmpo, Holiday, and Middleton, the Bucks have three legit 20 points per game scorers. It is going to take a collective team effort for the Hawks to eliminate the Bucks. Young will not beat them alone. John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, Lou Williams, and Huerter all have to take their game to another level this series.
They say that you should never judge a book by its cover. Perhaps the same could be said about NBA teams. You wouldn’t understand a team’s story unless you know their full season.
The Atlanta Hawks made things look easy in their first-round matchup against the New York Knicks. The Knicks were one of the NBA’s best teams defensively but they could not contain Trae Young, as he scored 30 or more points in three of the five games.
The New York Knicks are now trailing the Atlanta Hawks 2-1 in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, partly due to the lack of offense coming from RJ Barrett and Julius Randle. However, veteran guard, Derrick Rose is forcing Tom Thibodeau to insert him into the starting lineup for the rest of the series.
The Atlanta Hawks for the first time since 2017 made the playoffs. Meanwhile, The New York Knicks broke the third-longest active streak of years that a franchise had missed the playoffs.
As we near the conclusion of the NBA regular season, award races across the league are heating up. That is evident when taking a look at the NBA Coach of the Year candidates, as a number of coaches have an argument to be made that they deserve the award.
