After defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers found themselves facing the Carolina Hurricanes in Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs.
The New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins are no strangers in the NHL playoffs.
Since the 1987-88 season, the New York Rangers have presented the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award to the Ranger, who, as chosen by the fans, “goes above and beyond the call of duty.”
After the break, the New York Rangers looked pretty sluggish in their first game back. However, that is not unusual since their last game was on February 1.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, and the New York Rangers gave both to us this past week.
The New York Rangers started the week squaring off against the undefeated Florida Panthers. They showed that no team is undefeatable as they took down the only team left with a zero in the loss column.
There have been times the New York Rangers were better on the road than they were at home. Unfortunately, this road trip is not a prime example of that.
After nine games, the New York Rangers are 6-2-1. It’s better than most fans were thinking, and it gives hope to possible postseason action.
