This matchup was crucial for both teams, as Holy Cross and Ameican (5-15, 2-7) found themselves both deadlocked at the bottom of the Patriot League standings. Freshman Jacob Grandison came up clutch late for the Crusaders, sinking a go-ahead three-pointer with three minutes left and nailing two free throws to ultimately win the game with 13 seconds left.

Grandison also led the team in rebounds with seven and was co-leader in assists with five.

Junior Forward Jehyve Floyd led the Crusaders with career highs of 22 points and six blocks, shooting an impressive 10-13 from the field. Freshman Guard Caleb Green also had a great shooting night, shooting 6-7 from the field, leading to 15 points.

Freshman forward Sam Iorio led the Eagles in scoring and rebounds, dropping 19 points and grabbing five rebounds. Sophomore Guard Sa’eed Nelson led the team in rebounds with eight, also scoring 11 points. Junior guard Larry Motuzis added 17 points as well.

This game was also a milestone for the Crusaders, as this was the first game all season where they outrebounded their opponents. While Holy Cross shot well from the field and from beyond the arc (46 percent), the Eagles struggled shooting wise, only managing 39 percent from the field and 23 percent from beyond the arc. The Crusaders also managed to overcome a season-high 19 turnovers in the victory.

The Crusaders (6-14, 3-6) are now second to last in the Patriot League and face off against Lafayette on Jan. 27, looking to avenge their earlier loss to the Leopards. Tipoff is at 2:05 p.m.
