The Seattle Seahawks had very few selections to fill several key positions of need. Given the draft history of the organization, it was hard to think that they could pull anything remotely solid off. In fact, head coach Pete Carroll and the rest of the Seahawks organization changed how they drafted. Many of their picks were home runs. Let’s find out how the highlights and lowlights of the draft panned out in one of the most crucial drafts in recent memory.

Best Pick: Stone Forsythe (Round 6, Pick 208)

Somehow Forsythe fell past the third round. Not only did he fall past there, but he almost fell into the seventh round. With a comparison to Ty Nsekhe, a talented swing tackle that is highly respected around the NFL, this pickup was an absolute steal. Forsythe may be starting in some games for the Seahawks this year if any injuries occur

Worst Pick: Tre Brown (Round 4, Pick 137)

This pick was a bit rich for Brown. The Senior Bowl standout lacks a ceiling given his age, but the Seahawks desperately needed to replace Shaquill Griffin after losing him to Jacksonville. This pick is far from bad, but with only three picks to grade, this was the worst. The fact that Brown was the worst pick is a major kudos to the Seahawks organization.

Grade: B+

Sleeper Pick: D’Wayne Eskridge (Round 2, Pick 56)

The Seahawks desperately needed a third wide receiver to bolster the receiving corps. Eskridge is ready on day one and can be a major impact immediately. His after-the-catch skills are incredible, and his 4.3 speed is certainly demonstrated on every snap. Russell Wilson will certainly appreciate Eskridge, who is finally being catered to after years of neglect.

Grade: A-

Summary

The Seahawks hit a home run with their few selections. They addressed major vacancies in line depth and starting wide receiver and cornerback positions. There is a solid chance that all three of these selections will start at some point during the season. When all hope seemed lost for the Seahawks, they made the most of their choices to have a killer draft season. On a side note, Tamorrion Terry was also picked up as an undrafted free agent to back up D.K. Metcalf. This was the perfect time to be perfect.

Overall grade: A
