Report: Raiders, Trent Brown Agree to Record-Breaking Contract

Just ten minutes into the NFL’s legal tampering period, the Raiders have made another big move.

Oakland and free agent offensive lineman Trent Brown are in agreement on a massive four-year, $66 million contract with $36.75 million guaranteed, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal makes Brown the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history.

For the second straight season, an offensive lineman leaves the Patriots to become the highest-paid offensive lineman in league history. Last year, it was now-Giants lineman Nate Solder; now, it’s Brown.

Brown will take over at the left tackle position, forcing former first-round pick Kolton Miller to slide over to right tackle, per Schefter.

Brown, once a seventh-round selection of the San Francisco 49ers, was traded along with a fifth-round pick from San Francisco to New England last season, while a third-round selection went to the West Coast.

Last season, the Florida product started all 16 games with New England, starting every game he appeared in for the third consecutive season.

The Raiders have already been very busy this offseason, acquiring Antonio Brown and trading away Kelechi Osemele. They add Trent Brown ahead of what will likely be a busy free agency, capped off with three first-round picks in the upcoming NFL Draft.
