Report: Patriots Plan to Place Receiver on Injured Reserve, Activate Isaiah Wynn

It is the end of the road for a rookie but a huge boost for an abysmal offensive line.

Per reports, the New England Patriots are planning to place rookie wide receiver Gunner Olszewski on injured reserve and have Isaiah Wynn take over his roster spot.

Olszewski was an undrafted rookie out of Bemidji State University who outplayed Braxton Berrios and an entire stable of receivers this summer to earn his right to be on the roster. He took over for Julian Edelman as the punt returner and had an otherwise solid year with only one muffed punt.

Isaiah Wynn is the Patriots’ top draft choice of last season and was supposed to slide into to Trent Brown’s spot for this year but was injured early on. He is the second and final player the Patriots will likely activate off of injured reserve offering a huge upgrade over Marshall Newhouse.
