The New England Patriots are going a different direction at kicker.
Per reports, the team is cutting placekicker Mike Nugent after an abysmal performance this past Sunday.
The Patriots have informed kicker Mike Nugent of his release, as @AlbertBreer said. This comes after Sunday's game in which a 34-yard FG was missed, and a 29-yard FG was blocked.

Nugent in his four appearances with the Patriots made only four of his attempted six field goals.
His two misses on Sunday were icing on the cake in giving the Super Bowl champions a reason to part ways.
