After going back and forth on his future in the National Football League, New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett has reportedly stated that he indeed wants to play this coming season.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported the news just moments ago via Twitter.
Despite publicly contemplating retirement last season, #Patriots TE Martellus Bennett does want to continue playing, I’m told. He’s due a $2M roster bonus on March 14, so New England has a decision… but his $6.2M cap hit isn’t bad.

Bennett spent this past season on injured reserve after being claimed by the Patriots and should be good to go after successful shoulder surgery late last season.
With tight end Rob Gronkowski contemplating retirement, Bennett is a fantastic option whether Gronkowski is on the roster or not to add depth and or another weapon for quarterback Tom Brady.
