The Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms with free agent safety Curtis Riley, the team announced.
Riley started all 16 games for the Giants last year and even though Pro Football Focus rated him as the 85th-best safety (out of 89) last season, he was a better player than the ranking would suggest.
The Raiders will most likely use Riley as a free safety to allow him to use his coverage skills and not expose him against the run. Newly-acquired safety Lamarcus Joyner will end up playing a lot out of the slot, so Riley could end up starting alongside Karl Joseph depending on what the team does in the draft.
