They would only manage to finish 50 of the 200 laps, last Saturday at the Las Vegas race. Before a heavy rain delay would push the event back to Sunday, and they would resume it an hour after the finish of the Cup race. Stewart Haas driver, Chase Briscoe would put on a great effort at the bull ring. Not only would he beat out Austin Cindric for the victory by three seconds, but Briscoe would also dominate in laps led with 89. Which was 25 more than the next closest driver.
So without further ado, let’s delve into the driver options for this upcoming race at Auto Club Speedway. I’ve broken down the selections between high-salary drivers and value plays.
High Salary Drivers
Noah Gragson (Draft Kings $10,000)
Gragson is red hot coming out of the gate, having already won two weeks ago at Daytona where he would also lead 15 laps. Just last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Gragson would come through with a fourth place finish. He is currently second in points and looks to add to the sizzling start. This is his second opportunity at the Auto Club Speedway, having racked up a 12th place result here last March.
Justin Allgaier (Draft Kings $11,100)
One of the more successful current Xfinity drivers, at Fontana. Allgaier has collected top ten’s, in four of his last five races at the Auto Club Speedway. It was in 2018, that Allgaier would end up with a second place finish here. If you are looking to splurge on a driver this weekend, consider Allgaier.
Ryan Sieg (Draft Kings $9,200)
One of the most affordable of the bigger name Xfinity drivers, Seig has started off the year strong, finishing with a top three result at Las Vegas. Just the week prior to that, he would manage to crack the top 10. Currently, Seig ranks seventh in driver points. I will say though, he is a tad bit risky, given his history at this track. Seig’s best effort at Fontana was last season when he collected an eleventh place finish. Given how strong Seig has been running so far this season, I would consider giving him a chance this weekend at that price.
Value Plays
Michael Annett (Draft Kings $8,800)
A 10 year veteran of the Xfinity series, Annett has plenty of race experience at Fontana. In Annett’s last four attempts here at this event, he has finished 13th or better in three of those races. An ultra consistent driver when it comes to the Auto Club Speedway, he has not had one DNF in his last ten races. He is not an exciting pick by any means, but he is a dependable selection.
Brandon Brown (Draft Kings $8,000)
Racing in a family owned car, Brown has so far put together a pair of pretty solid showings. In the first couple of races, Brown has finished seventh in Daytona and 11th last week at Las Vegas. He has just one previous race at the Auto Speedway, finishing last year with a 15th place result.
Anthony Alfredo (Draft Kings $6,400)
Alfredo is looked at purely as a lottery ticket selection, this weekend. However, given the price, along with the fact he’ll be driving in a Richard Childress owned car in his Xfinity debut. This pick was too intriguing not to include. Alfredo ran 13 races last year in the Nascar Truck series, with DGR-Crosley, racking up two top 10’s.
