MLB DFS: Sweet Saturday

MLB DFS: Sweet Saturday

An interesting 11-game, 4:00 pm slate awaits us today on DraftKings. Last night we scored big with Anthony DeSclafani tossing a shutout. A couple of our hitters, Tyler Stephenson and Brendan Rodgers went yard. Let’s see if we can keep it rolling today with some more values in MLB DFS.

On the Bump

Max Fried – $7,400 – at Miami Marlins

Since coming back from injury on May 5, Fried has been very good with a 2.41 ERA and a solid 31/11 K/BB rate. He has also only coughed up one home run in 33.2 innings. The lefty surrendered exactly one run in five of those six starts. The Marlins offense is not great and they strike out more than every other National League team except the Milwaukee Brewers. Miami also has the third-worst OPS (.680) in the NL.

German Marquez – $7,000 – at Cincinnati Reds

The Reds rocked Kyle Freeland last night which is no surprise. Today though they face a hard-throwing right-hander instead of a soft-tossing lefty. Since May 4 when Marquez couldn’t get out of the first inning against the San Francisco Giants, he has thrown at least six innings and struck out at least six batters in each of his six starts. In that time he has a 1.89 ERA and that is with four of those games being played at Coors Field. Marquez should be able to cool down the hot Reds offense.

On the Dirt

Amed Rosario – SS – $4,000

Cleveland’s shortstop is on fire right now. He has 11 hits and eight runs scored in his last five games. Rosario also bats second in front of Jose Ramirez and has hit southpaws well this season with a .778 OPS against them. He faces left-hander Yusei Kikuchi who has improved but is still vulnerable to the long ball surrendering eight bombs in his last 36 IP.

Brendan Rodgers – 2B/SS – $3,000

We are going with the former first-round pick two days in a row. Although it took him until the eighth inning to hit his bomb last night, we will take it. He is raking lefties this season going 6-for-14 with a couple of dingers and eight RBIs. Wade Miley is on the hill for the Reds. While he has had a sort of renaissance with the no-hitter and all, he got destroyed by these Rockies last month.

On the Grass

Justin Upton – $3,800

Don’t look now but Upton has an eight-game hitting streak going. In that time he is crushing the ball with four doubles and four homers, raising his OPS over 100 points. He faces lefty Caleb Smith today. Smith is making his third consecutive start due to Arizona losing most of its regular rotation. While the Diamondbacks southpaw made it through five innings in each of those starts, don’t expect him to go much further and the Arizona bullpen has been awful. Upton is my HR Call of the day.

Pavin Smith – 1B/OF – $3,400

We will stay in the desert and go with the Diamondbacks outfielder who has had hits in 17 of his last 19 starts. Smith has been especially good against right-handers slashing .297/.342/.459 with 18 extra-base hits. Alex Cobb throws for the Los Angeles Angels and has been good but got beaten up a little last time out.

Good luck in MLB DFS everyone.
