MLB DFS: Saturday Savings

MLB DFS: Saturday Savings: Justin Upton

We have a 10-game slate for MLB DFS today starting at 2:00 pm ET. As always we are going to look at our value plays and a few of them hit pretty nicely yesterday. While there are 10 games on the docket, three of them are part of a doubleheader and will only be seven innings. Keep that in mind when you are making your lineups as the hitters in these matchups will likely have one fewer plate appearance. Let’s get to our Saturday savings for MLB DFS.

Seven-Inning Games:

Washington Nationals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Chicago White Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Colorado Rockies

***All Prices Are DraftKings***

On the Bump

Ross Stripling – $6,000 – at Cleveland Indians

Let’s just keep picking on the Indians. Jose Ramirez, Franmil Reyes, and Jordan Luplow have combined for 30 of Cleveland’s 57 home runs this season, and Reyes and Luplow are on the IL. As for Stripling, he looked like his old self last time out, holding the Tampa Bay Rays to two hits in seven innings while striking out seven. Although he has been susceptible to the long ball, giving up seven bombs in 32.1 innings, the Indians are shorthanded power-wise and the wind will be blowing in from right field today at 15-18 mph.

Mitch Keller – $5,800 – vs. Colorado Rockies

Keller seems to have this trend where he goes back and forth from good to awful. He has started nine games this season.

Odd-numbered starts (5): 17 IP, 29 H, 15/15 K/BB rate, 5 HR, 15.35 ERA
Even-numbered starts (4): 20.2 IP, 18 H, 25/6 K/BB rate, 1 HR, 2.18 ERA

Well, this is his 10th start so let’s not get cute and buck the trend. Besides, he faces the Rockies at home. Colorado has an anemic .567 OPS on the road this season. They’ve managed just 12 bombs in 23 road games and strike out at a 27.1 percent clip.

On the Dirt

Adalberto Mondesi – SS – $3,300

Back to the well for the second day in a row. Mondesi had two hits last night and is 5-for-14 with three doubles since returning to the lineup. Keep rolling him out there as long the price lasts. He may actually move up in the lineup today as well with lefty J.A. Happ on the mound for the Twins.

Jeimer Candelario – 3B – $3,100

The 27-year-old has come into his own over the past two seasons, slashing .292/.363/.457 in 101 games. He often gets overlooked and is priced low, but he bats third in the Tigers lineup and is facing Deivi Garcia today. The Yankees right-hander has struggled in the minors this season with a 5.17 ERA and a 1.596 WHIP.

On the Grass

Justin Upton – $3,100

Don’t look now but Upton has a tidy little five-game hitting streak going and has his season average over the Mendoza line. The Angels left fielder is 7-for-21 over that span and has a couple of dingers. His opponent on the mound, Frankie Montas, has been homer-prone this season allowing 11 bombs in just 53 innings including five over his last four starts. It will be cool and a little humid with the wind blowing out to left-center this afternoon in Oakland. Upton is my Home Run call.

Bryan Reynolds – $3,100

Here is another player that doesn’t get talked about enough. Reynolds has five homers and an .859 OPS this season to go along with 16 doubles. The former second-round pick from Vanderbilt is also facing lefty Austin Gomber today. Reynolds is destroying lefties this season with a 1.095 OPS. Of his 19 hits against southpaws, 11 have gone for extra bases. The floor is as high as anyone, especially at this price.

Good luck in all of your MLB DFS lineups.
