MLB DFS: Extreme Valuesby John Lepore May 28, 2021 2 comments
While there was originally a 12-game slate tonight starting at 7:00 pm ET, a couple of games have already been postponed. Nevertheless, we are going to look at values – Pitchers under $7,000 and hitters under $3,000. I’ll also give a few options if you want to spend up at that position. Let’s get into our MLB DFS extreme values.
Games Postponed So Far…
New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves
Washington Nationals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Rain is also expected this evening for…
Boston Red Sox vs. Miami Marlins
***All Prices Are DraftKings***
On the Bump
Casey Mize – $6,700 – vs. New York Yankees
The Bronx Bombers come to the Motor City with Gerrit Cole toeing the rubber for them. Mize has looked very good lately. In his last four starts, he has only allowed 12 hits and five earned runs in 26 innings. While the Yankees have been winning games, their offense hasn’t been putting up gaudy numbers by any means. They have scored just 25 runs over their last eight and strike out nine times a game. Mize should step his game up knowing he is facing one of the league’s true aces.
Randy Dobnak – $5,800 – vs. Kansas City Royals
The Twins righty made his first start of the season last Friday against the punchless Cleveland Indians. Dobnak looked good allowing no runs on three hits in six innings while striking out five. While Kansas City’s lineup doesn’t strike out a ton, they are 13th in the AL in OPS (.670) with only Detroit and Seattle worse. After failing to make the Opening Day roster, Dobnak is looking to prove himself with another opportunity.
Spend Up Options: Gerrit Cole ($11,200), Hyun Jin Ryu ($8,400)
On the Dirt
Danny Santana – 1B/OF – $2,800
Santana has started four of the last five games for the Sox. He only has three hits, but those hits are a triple and a couple of homers. He also has a couple of walks and a stolen base in just 17 plate appearances. If he is in Boston’s lineup, he should be in yours.
Ty France 2B/OF – $2,800
Since returning to the Mariners lineup, France is 6-for-15 in four games. He was in a miserable slump to start May, but is hot now and should continue to get that OPS back up around .850 where it was in April.
Adalberto Mondesi – SS – $2,800
After missing nearly the first two months of the season, Mondesi is back. He has started off going 3-for-9 and while he doesn’t have a HR or a stolen base yet, we all know what he is capable of and this price is just too good to pass up.
Spend Up Options: Paul Goldschmidt ($3,900) (HR Call of the Night), Garrett Cooper ($3,700), Nick Solak ($4,400), Rafael Devers ($4,600), Isiah Kiner-Falefa ($4,000)
On the Grass
Wil Myers – $2,700
The Padres’ right fielder returned from COVID-19 protocols on Sunday. He got his first hit yesterday as he looks to shake off a little rust. He has four homers and four swipes on the year, all of them coming in April. If Myers can get going again, he has the power-speed combo to go on a tear. It could start tonight.
Josh Reddick – $2,300
The 34-year-old signed on with the Arizona Diamondbacks in April. He made his 2021 debut just eight days ago and started off 2-for-17. Since then he has gotten hot going 4-for-9 with a double. He is fresh and just a hit or two will give you a solid ROI for this low price.
Spend Up Options: Nelson Cruz ($5,400), Ketel Marte ($4,400), Kyle Tucker ($3,800)
Good luck everyone.
