Jerry Remy, Who Is in the Midst of His 30th Year in the Booth, Likely to Miss Remainder of Season

The fight is on.

In June, Jerry Remy announced his cancer had returned to his lungs after he had battled the disease in 2008-09. The Red Sox television analyst with NESN provided an update on his health Wednesday.

Remy stated that he is about to undergo chemotherapy following cancer surgery in June.

Remy posted on his Facebook page the following:

“I’m still recovering from the lung cancer surgery I had back in June and will soon enter the next stage of my cancer treatment. I’ve met with my doctors and I’ll start receiving chemotherapy treatments late this month. I have some difficult challenges in front of me, but I plan to keep fighting this thing. I’d like to thank everybody for their many thoughts and prayers and continued support.”
