Jazz vs HEAT reaction

Jacari McRae | December 26th, 2019

In what felt like a playoff game, the Miami Heat had to dig deep to pull out with a victory. After trading baskets in the first three quarters, Miami opened the fourth period on a 19-4 run. The Utah Jazz made a late run to cut the lead to four, but the Heat still made enough plays to win the game. After the win over the Jazz at home, the Heat now has the best home record in the league at 13-1.

Here are my takeaways from the Heat’s win over the Jazz.

Tyler Herro comes through in the fourth

The Heat put the ball in Tyler Herro‘s hands in the fourth period. And he did not let them down. As the Heat’s primary ball-handler for the majority of the fourth period, Herro hit four big shots to keep the Heat ahead. There are not many rookies that play with the confidence that Herro plays with.

Herro scored nine points in the fourth period, finishing the night with 17 points.

Bam overcomes offensive struggles

With the defensive monster Rudy Gobert guarding him, Bam Adebayo got off to a slow start. Adebayo shot 2-of-10 from the field in the first three quarters. You can tell how Gobert’s length bothered Bam with the Heat big rushing the majority of his shots.

As the game progressed, Adebayo came around. He finished the night with 18 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks. Not bad for an off night.

Meyers records a double-double

This was arguably Meyers Leonard‘s best game in a Heat uniform. While most Heat players struggled to get anything going inside, Leonard found a way to score inside. He also rebounded the ball well. So far, Leonard has been earning the extra minutes he’s been given.

Leonard ended the night with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
