Week 13 in the NFL has ended. So, it is time to crown the Team of the Week last week. Although the Philadelphia Eagles were crowned as the Team of the Week for the third time last week, this week, a new team is entering the spotlight, the San Francisco 49ers.

Brock Purdy: The Hero That is Needed, Not Deserved

San Fran’s starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would go down with an ankle injury (a broken ankle and is now out for the rest of the season). After Garopplo’s injury, Brock Purdy filled in. A little about Purdy he was the last pick in the 2022 “Mr. Irrelevant” out of Iowa St. In this match-up versus Miami, Purdy went 25-of-37 (67% of his throws made) for 210 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, but it is also his first ever NFL start.

McCaffery Samuel 2028

The 49ers are very good at spreading the ball to several playmakers like Christian McCaffery and Deebo Samuel. McCaffery has been a focal point of this offense since he got to San Fransico from Carolina. So the trade has turned out to be a win-win for both teams.

McCaffery, in this game, had 17 carries for 66 yards. In the receiving game, he was the 49ers leading receiver with eight receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown. Deebo had four carries for five yards but significantly impacted the receiving with six receiving yards for 58 yards. Kyle Juszczyk, in this game, had three receptions for 12 yards, one of which resulted in a touchdown.

49ers Defense the Reason for Week 13 Success

The 49ers’ defense was able to get after Tua Tagovailoa three times at Nick Bosa’s hands, which shows how great of a player he truly is. The defense was also able to pick off Tagovailoa and rookie Skylar Thompson a total of three separate times (one by Jimmie Ward, Fred Warner, and Deommodore Lenior). Dre Greenlaw led the team in tackles with seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle.

Potential Playoff Team vs. Playoff Team

The 49ers took on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. If the NFL playoffs started right now in Week 13, the San Francisco 49ers would be the third seed in the NFC (National Football Conference) playoffs, and the Miami Dolphins would be the sixth seed in the AFC (America Football Conference) playoffs. Up to this game, Miami had won five of their last five games. The last time they lost was in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions.
