When the NFL dropped the schedules earlier this year, everyone looked forward to this rematch. Now that it is here, what does it mean for both teams?

Obviously, neither team is the same as its predecessor from the Super Bowl. However, that is what makes it so appealing. The offense for the Chiefs is not quite as good, but their defense is much better. For the Eagles, both sides of the ball are slightly less than where they were last year.

Despite not resembling last year’s teams, there’s no doubt both are set to make it into the playoffs. Can the Eagles successfully keep Patrick Mahomes from making plays out of nothing? Mahomes is not having his best season, which is still better than most QBs, and Travis Kelce has been the most stable ball carrier. The rest of the Chiefs offense is a little shaky, but it is still doable.

Will Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ offense refrain from fumbling the ball? Only the game will tell. It was a fumble in the Superbowl that gave the Chiefs a burst of life, keeping them going until the end. If the Eagles can keep the ball in their hands, they have a chance to keep the Chiefs on the ropes. All Philadelphia needs to do is watch the Chiefs’ tape from the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos games. That will give them some idea of how to keep the Chiefs down and possibly win.

It is a tough call on what to bet on. One can make a strong argument about who might win, but at the end of the day, it is anyone’s call with these two teams.

What To Watch For

See if the Chiefs are able to keep the Eagles from short-yardage situations to avoid the “Brotherly Shove”, or “Tush Push”, as Philadelphia’s QB sneak is referred to. Kansas City’s defense needs to force the Eagles to throw and win on the early downs. Also, the Chiefs will need to keep an eye on A.J. Brown. He’s been a steady and dependable wide receiver, so if the Cheifs can limit his contributions to the game, the Eagles might possibly struggle to put points on the board.

You know that Philadelphia has been looking forward to this moment. It is a chance to get back at the team that beat them in the Super Bowl. While it would not entirely make up for not winning a trophy, it would still go a long way. Look for the Eagles to get as much pressure as they can on Mahomes. Also, look for more attempts to sack him as well. Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat are a great duo, and at times, the offensive line for the Chiefs has seemed a little shaky. If the defense can get past them, the game will be on.

Look for a game to keep you on the edge of your seat. The first team to start making mistakes will lose.
