Well, the NFL season is half over. There have been several notable injuries already this year and Week 8 had some big names injured as well.
Myles Garrett, DE, Cleveland Browns
After battling an ankle injury the week before, the Browns dodged a bullet when it was determined that Garrett had suffered no structural damage to the knee he injured Sunday. The MRI was negative and he will have two weeks to heal since the Browns are on a Bye this week.
Tevin Coleman, RB, San Francisco 49ers
Coleman has been ruled out already for Week 9. He was activated off IR before the Week 8 game and managed just six snaps before reinjuring the same knee. A Grade I strain is a one to three-week injury so his status will have to be reevaluated going forward. The recurrence to the same knee is concerning as reinjury is often more serious than the original ailment.
Deebo Samuel, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Samuel missed last week and was slated to miss Week 9 with a hamstring injury. He was placed on the COVID exempt list after another member of the wide receiver room tested positive earlier this week. Regardless of the reason, he will miss Thursday’s game.
Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers
Garoppolo reaggravated a high ankle sprain and he has been placed on IR and is likely done for the season. The fact that he is seeking a second opinion on the injury means he has at least a Grade II sprain and will miss four to six weeks and may need surgery to stabilize the ankle. This is not good news because this means the injury is really significant.
Mitch Morse, C, Buffalo Bills, Joey Bosa, DE, Los Angeles Chargers and Adam Humphries, WR, Tennessee Titans
Morse, Bosa, and Humphries all left their respective games Week 8 with possible concussions, and all three remain in the NFL concussion protocol. Their status will not be known until they are cleared through the protocol.
