There will be no holdout from Joey Bosa.
The dynamic defensive end for the Los Angeles Chargers has agreed to a five-year extension worth a record $135 million, including $78 million guaranteed at signing and $102 million in total guarantees. With one year remaining on his current contract, the extension ensures he will be hitched to the Chargers through the 2025 season.
The full $102 million in guarantees is $2 million more than that of Myles Garrett, who recently signed an extension with the Cleveland Browns.
Bosa has been a force in the Chargers’ lineup since he was taken No. 3 overall in the 2016 draft, amassing over 200 tackles (53 for loss), 82 quarterback hits, 40 sacks and five forced fumbles in 51 games (49 starts).
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound “Big Bear,” who was recently listed 34th on the “NFL Top 100,” has already reported for training camp and expects to continue his role as an integral part of an underrated Chargers defense that continued to add even more pieces in the offseason.
