2020 “Way Too Early” NFL Mock Draft
Before all of the keyboard GMs come for my head, this is called the “way too early” mock draft for a reason. This is a preliminary idea of what could happen based on a draft order that I did not create.
The Dallas Cowboys last season were a surprise of sorts, they missed the playoffs the year before, but this year they redeemed themselves, improving from a 9-7 record the year before to a 10-6 record. This was enough to win the NFC East and get a birth into the playoffs, where they managed to win a game against the Seahawks, and then lose in the NFC Divisional Playoff game to the eventual Super Bowl participant Los Angeles Rams. During the season, they traded their first-round pick to the Oakland Raiders for WR Amari Cooper.
The Houston Texans, fresh off a playoff appearance, came into the draft needing offensive linemen and secondary help. The Texans need to do a better job to protect quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was sacked 62 times last season. Also, the Texans pass defense ranked 28th in the league. Let’s take a look at their draft.
The 2018 season got off to a great start for the Tennessee Titans as they began the year 3-1. However, they struggled as the season went on as the offense stalled at times and the injury bug took its toll. Marcus Mariota struggled to stay upright, getting sacked 42 times and he had just one receiver with more than 470 receiving yards.
The Cardinals threw Josh Rosen to the curb after giving him just one year to prove himself? They draft his replacement with the first overall pick, but was it the right move?
John Elway has struggled when drafting as a GM, especially when it comes to drafting quarterbacks. Did Elway strike gold in 2019? Yes, he did.

Not having a pick until the third round of the draft can change the way a fan views that particular draft. That’s been the case for most Bears fans as they were expecting to wait until pick number 87 before they made their first selection. Instead, fans only had to wait until pick 73 because the Bears decided to trade up to get their guy. Nothing new for GM Ryan Pace, but how should we value this year’s picks?

One of the teams rumored to jump into the top five to secure a quarterback was the Washington Redskins. However, they stayed patient and still managed to get their guy at pick 15 overall.
