UNC has lucked out with their recruiting class so far, finding themselves ranked No. 3. Can that trend continue when travel restrictions are lifted?
With the draft a little over two weeks away, everyone is rapidly trying to churn out mock drafts and scouting reports. While this is always the case, it’s also time to look ahead to the future. Scouts always do years of work in advance for future drafts and that is what I will do here.
Through all the success that Wisconsin has had at offensive line, Tyler Biadasz was the first center in Wisconsin’s history to win the Rimington Trophy that is awarded to the nation’s most outstanding center. The three-year starter at center announced yesterday that he will be entering the draft joining underclassmen Jonathan Taylor and Quintez Cephus. Much like Taylor, the decision does not come as much of a surprise but the decorated junior now makes it official.
It was 2003 in the Orange Bowl, the last time Iowa and USC faced one another. In which Carson Palmer would lead the Trojans past Brandon Banks and the Hawkeyes in a decisive 38-17 win. Kirk Ferentz was the head coach for Iowa in that game and continues to be a mainstay with the team.
Entering the New Mexico Bowl, Central Michigan is looking for a big pick me up. The 8-5 Chippewas are coming off a tough 26-21 loss in the MAC title, to Miami-Ohio two weeks prior. They face a San Diego State team that finished the year with a solid 9-3 record good enough for second in the MW division.
We have already seen this matchup earlier in the season.
On October 26th, the 6-1 Badgers met the undefeated Buckeyes in Columbus. Wisconsin had been coming off of a stunning upset to the Fighting Illini after starting off the year incredibly hot while Ohio State continued their dominance over the rest of the country.
Boise State hosts the Mountain West title for the third year in a row, having gone 1-1 against Fresno State on the past two occasions. After an 11-1 season, Boise currently sits 19th in the CFP Rankings. They come into this game not only looking to correct their failures of last year but also greatly improve their current Bowl chances.
The biggest game of the year for both teams, the Penn State Nittany Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes face off on Saturday for a huge Big Ten battle that will decide the Big Ten East. Kickoff is at noon on Fox between the second-ranked Buckeyes and eighth-ranked Lions.
With Alabama up 35-7 and just over three minutes to go in the first half, Alabama starting quarterback suffered a season-ending hip injury. Tua suffered a posterior hip dislocation with an acetabular rim fracture and was flown by helicopter back to Alabama for further evaluation. A lot of comments regarding this injury have already been made, and I hope this piece will help to explain the injury and the recovery facing Tua.
College Gameday is heading to Waco! The #9 Oklahoma Sooners take on the undefeated #12 Baylor Bears in a very important Big 12 game. Both of these teams have had very interesting seasons led by prolific quarterbacks.
