Yesterday I brought the recap of the top 30 starting pitchers being taken in the NFBC drafts since the beginning of December. Today let us dive into the top 15 first basemen of these early drafts.
As we start the new year, all you fantasy baseball fanatics are dying to know who the fantasy industry is favoring. Well as I dip my toes into the big boy pool over at the NFBC (National Fantasy Baseball Championship) I will be bringing you positional ranks from their recent NFBC Draft Champions data.
Who you got? Better yet, what are you trying to accomplish? Are you looking to bolster your rotation with high strikeout, high upside arms? Or are you looking for control artists with less than a strikeout per nine with the ability to eat innings and pitch deep into games?

There’s a revolution going on in baseball right now. A swing revolution, that is. Many players are changing their swing to put more loft on the ball and also to hit the ball harder. For several, this has led to a power increase and more home runs. While it’s not a tried and true method for everyone (just ask Leonys Martin), many players have enjoyed an increase in production over the past couple years with this change.
There are numerous players ever week who get the call to the Majors, and essentially, the call to make their dreams come true. Here are the highlights from the previous week!
I am puzzled each time I see the Chicago Cubs lineup on any given day and fail to see the name of Albert Almora Jr. The team’s number 1 pick from the 2013 draft (6th overall), and not to be discounted as the first under the Theo Epstein regime, has formed into the player the organization hoped for when he was drafted out of Mater Academy Charter School in Florida.
When we are this early in the year it is usually easy to pinpoint the stars on each team. The usual suspects generally show up when the team starts off well. We will go through the top 10 teams in baseball and also highlight a player from each team who may not have been expected to perform at the level in which they have.
Sometimes in fantasy baseball, we get lucky. Of course, we always want to say that we knew about this guy or that guy and take credit by painting ourselves as draft gurus.
One of the toughest decisions in fantasy baseball is if you should pick up or trade for a veteran who is having a bad season. Is he going to bounce back to career norms? Is he done and finally showing a significant decline?
