The NASCAR Cup Series continues their trip out west with a stop at Phoenix Raceway. This will be the shortest track of the season thus far at only one mile.
Phoenix will also be hosting the championship for the second season in a row coming up in November. This race will be a good test for teams to get their cars ready for this style of racing. Now let’s jump right into my top bets for this weekend’s race.

Outright Winner
Brad Keselowski (+700)
Keselowski had a very good car last week but was unable to close in on Kyle Larson for the win. The Penske Fords have been strong to start the season, though they have yet to find victory lane. Last year Keselowski was in the Championship Four at Phoenix. He finished runner-up in that race after a slower pit stop in the closing laps gave Chase Elliott the lead. Look for Keselowski to pick up his first win of the season and his first Cup Series win at Phoenix on Sunday.
Kyle Busch (+750)
Busch has been the best driver at Phoenix of late. In his last 11 races at the track, he has finished top-11 in every one of them. He has also finished on the front row in five of those races, claiming victory in two of them.
Busch finished a season-best third place last week and will look to carry that momentum into this race. He doesn’t want to get into another winless streak like he did last season. If he can pick up a win this early into the season that would give he and the 18 team plenty of confidence for the remainder of the year. Look for Kyle to be among the top contenders in this race.
Race Props
Grid Position of Race Winner: Under 4.5 (+220)
This bet hit last week and I’m jumping right back into it again this week. You will get Keselowski (who is starting first and has been strong to start the season), last week’s winner Larson, Denny Hamlin (who has yet to win this season but is typically among the contenders), and Christopher Bell who won a few weeks ago at the Daytona Road Course. With these four drivers, there is a very good shot this bet hits for the second week in a row.
Better Finisher: Austin Dillon (-115) versus Cole Custer
The RCR cars have shown good speed to start the year and Dillon has finished 12th in the last two races. The Stewart-Haas cars have struggled so far and Custer has finished 23rd and 25th in the last two races. Last season Dillon beat Custer in the November race and lost to him in the March race after getting caught up in an accident. If Dillon can avoid any wrecks, he should be able to finish well above Custer again this week.
