Lynx impressive home win is the team’s fourth straight against Phoenix

Coming off of a heartbreaking loss on the road to the Atlanta Dream, the Minnesota Lynx played an impressive game at home to beat the Phoenix Mercury for the fourth straight time Sunday night. In this 75-62 victory over the Mercury, the Lynx came out strong, scoring quick points. Throughout the game, the Lynx were able to body their way past a physical Phoenix team as all five Lynx starters finished in double-digits. This win puts Minnesota at 10-7 as they remain number four in league standings.

Phoenix Mercury fall to the Connecticut Sun: Taurasi returns to basketball, Sancho Lyttle suffers another leg injury

Diana Taurasi made her long-awaited return to hoops Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut vs the Connecticut Sun. Taurasi, who had been out for the first half of the season with a back injury that required surgery, went through the team’s pre-game shoot around and several other drills at full speed prior to being in the starting lineup for the Mercury. Though the Mercury led the Sun 36-30 at halftime, the Sun came out shooting well. The Sun’s entire starting lineup turned into scoring machines, as all five finished the game in double figures after going on a 17-1 run in the 2nd half.

Pittsburgh Pirates Surprise Contenders Heading Into The Second Half

Coming into the season the Pirates were expected to rebuild. In one of the best divisions in baseball, the Pirates were predicted by many to finish fourth. So far, they have battled seemingly never-ending injuries and surpassed expectations. Over the last past two weeks, they faced teams currently in the playoff picture and excelled. With a lot of baseball left, this team is in a good position to succeed in a division still up for grabs.

Federer vs Nadal: The Clash of the Titans

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, the two greatest tennis players of our generation. If you ask most people, the term greatest of all time is just a debate between them. July 12, 2019, is the date that will mark their 40th meeting vs one another. The tournament is Wimbledon, which will be their fourth overall meeting in this tournament and the tournament’s semi-final match. With Federer holding the 2-1 advantage in this tournament, and Nadal holding the better overall record, the excitement and audience views for this matchup will more than likely surpass the number of viewers for the actual final. This just shows how big and important this matchup will be.

Max Fried started the year off hot with a 2.43 ERA in May. He has since cooled off putting up an ERA of 4.11 in May and 5.68 ERA in June. I wouldn’t shy away from him though; in fact, I would be buying anywhere I can.

Team Grades: American League West

Once again, the Houston Astros are among the best teams in baseball. New signing Michael Brantley has been one of the highlights of this team, leading all qualified Astros with a .324 batting average. Not to mention Yordan Alvarez, who made his major league debut on June 9th. In 19 games, Alvarez has hit seven home runs and has an OPS of 1.141.  Their pitching has been dominant as well, as both their team ERA (3.86) and WHIP (1.14) rank fourth and second, respectively.

Soccer is technically the most popular sport in the world, popular in almost every country perhaps, America maybe not so much. With the rise of soccer in video gaming (FIFA for example) over the last 10 years or so, the sport is gradually building a larger and steadier fan base in the states. With that being said, while more and more Americans don Messi and Ronaldo jerseys, one thing we have been deprived of is an American star. We have had some occasional flash in the pan stars like Tim Howard at the 2014 World Cup, or Landon Donovan, but never anyone to guarantee the sport is taking off here. That is until the arrival of one young American arrived in Germany, that man is Christian Mate Pulisic.

USWNT to be celebrated with ticker-tape parade Wednesday in NYC

New York City is currently preparing to celebrate the four-time, FIFA Women’s World Cup Champions the U.S. Women’s National soccer team (USWNT) tomorrow morning with a ticker-tape parade celebration. The event will begin at 9:30 am ET in New York City. Fans from near and far will gather to share in the glory of a fourth U.S. World Cup victory with hopes of seeing the champs hoist the world cup trophy in person.
