The Houston Texans traveled to Pittsburgh, PA on Sunday afternoon to face the Steelers in Week 3 of the 2020 NFL Season. The Texans entered this game winless while the Steelers had a 2-0 record. The Texans desperately needed the win to turn the page on the season. They got off to a good start but were unable to clinch their first victory of the season.

The First Half

Houston opened the game with possession of the ball and went three and out in the opening drive, but the Steelers finished their first possession with a 33-yard field goal kick by Chris Boswell.

The Texans answered in their next drive with a 28-yard touchdown pass between Deshaun Watson and Randall Cobb and took the early lead, 7-3. The teams exchanged downs to finish out the first quarter.

The Texans also had possession when the second quarter started and they put the first points on the board when David Johnson took the ball two yards for a touchdown and expanded the lead, 14-3.

Just as in the first quarter, the Steelers produced points on the opening drive, this time for a 10-yard touchdown pass between Ben Roethlisberger and Eric Ebron and closed the gap, 14-10.

The Steelers also scored in their next drive Roethlisberger connected with JuJu Smith-Schuster for a 26-yard touchdown pass with just over a minute left to play in the first half.

The Texans didn’t let the touchdown go unanswered though and Watson connected with Will Fuller V for a 14-yard touchdown pass, regaining the lead, 21-17 to go into halftime.

The Second Half

The Steelers had the first possession of the ball in the third quarter. After 12 plays and five minutes off of the clock, Boswell kicked a 26-yard field goal through the posts. That kick closed the lead to just one point, 21-20. Both teams traded downs for the rest of the quarter and the score remained unchanged.

Houston had possession of the ball to begin the final quarter and their first possession ended after Mike Hilton intercepted a pass intended for Kenny Stills and took it for an eight-yard return.

The Steelers capitalized on the interception and put a touchdown up in the next possession after James Conner took the ball in for an eight-yard rush. Instead of attempting the extra point, Roethlisberger attempted the two-point conversion and connected with Smith-Schuster to take the lead, 28-21 with just six and a half minutes left to play.

Neither team produced any points in their final possessions and the Steelers moved to 3-0 for the season, while the Texans remained winless with a 0-3 record.
