Damico’s Depository: Week 2 College Football Picks and Locks

Bo Nix

Welcome back for another week of college football picks. This week, we are blessed with SEC football! It’s going to be an exciting weekend for sports and it will only get better in October when the Big 10 gets involved. Let’s take a look at my record so far.

Outright Record: 15-4 (.790)

Spread Record: 12-7 (.632)

Lock Record: 3-2 (.600) (Two of my locks had their games postponed)

I love statistics, so I love keeping track of my record and percentages and I am not ashamed to admit when I had a bad week. I was pretty happy with my outright picks last week, although I’d like the percentage to be 80% on the year. Last week’s picks certainly could have been better, as my goal is 70 percent. What did I learn from the locks? Never bet on UTEP.

Let’s get into this week.

Kansas State at 3 Oklahoma (-27.5)

Outright: Oklahoma

Spread: Oklahoma

Yes, Kansas State upset Oklahoma last year, but that was at their home stadium. Spencer Rattler and the Sooners will get their revenge on the Wildcats, who lost to Arkansas State in their first match. I’m not confident enough to lock Oklahoma in on the spread, but I think they’ll make light work of the Wildcats.

23 Kentucky at 8 Auburn (-7.5)

Outright: Auburn

Spread: Auburn

I have Auburn covering, but it will not be by much. I’m excited to see what kind of leap Bo Nix makes in his sophomore season, but I doubt he comes out and lights the world on fire. If I had to make a score prediction, I’d say 23-13 Auburn.

24 Louisville at 21 Pittsburgh (-3)

Outright: Louisville

Spread: Louisville

Last week, I had a sneaking suspicion that Miami would take down Louisville on the road, and this week, I have the same feeling, but in favor of the Cardinals. I don’t think Pittsburgh looked very impressive against a bad Syracuse team last week. I’m not sold on Kenny Pickett and the Panthers offense. Cardinals by a touchdown.

5 Florida (-13.5) at Ole Miss

Outright: Florida

Spread: Florida (Lock)

I don’t think Ole Miss is good enough to keep this game within two touchdowns. Let’s see if all the hype surrounding Florida was true or not. I believe in Kyle Trask and I think it shouldn’t be much of a challenge to win this game by two touchdowns.

Gates Top NFL Team From Week 11 (2024)

Week 11 in the NFL brought more chaos, with at least five games on Sunday being decided by a single score. Notably, the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts won their games by just one point. As a result of their performance, the Buffalo Bills have earned the title of our NFL Team of the Week for the second time this season, having previously received this honor in Week 8.
