Monday Night Football DFS: Week 2

Darren Waller

Week 2 is almost in the books. Before we look ahead to Week 3, there’s one more game on Monday night. The Las Vegas Raiders host the New Orleans Saints for the first time at the new Allegiant stadium. The Raiders are home underdogs in this matchup, while the Saints were able to take down Tom Brady last week in his first game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Raiders were also able to pick up the win. They took down former Saints’ backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and the Carolina Panthers. Now let’s jump right into the top players for Monday Night’s game.

DraftKings Captain/ FanDuel MVP

Darren Waller (DK Captain $11,100 | FD $11,500)

Waller had a breakout season last year and will look to continue his success with Derek Carr on Monday night. Last week he was the leader in targets for the Raiders with eight. Carr continues to look his way and will likely have to do so all game against the Saints. The Saints gave up a touchdown to Buccaneer’s tight end O.J. Howard last week. Look for Waller to have a big game and provide great value out of the Captain slot.

Utility Players

Latavius Murray (DK $3,400 | FD $7,500)

The Saints showed last week that they are going to get Murray involved in the run game. He had a solid 15 carries for 48 yards. This week Murray and the Saints get a matchup against the Raiders defense. They surrendered 30 points last week and two rushing touchdowns. Although, that was against the best running back in the league in Christian McCaffrey. Look for Murray to get double-digit carries again this week and get some goal line work to punch in a touchdown.

Alvin Kamara (DK $11,400 | FD $14,000)

The Saints are going to rely on their running backs with Michael Thomas out. Kamara had eight targets last week hauling in five of those for 51 yards and one touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown even though he only had 16 rushing yards. Kamara and Murray will both get double-digit carries again this week. Just like Cleveland on Thursday night’s game playing both running backs from one team will be a solid strategy.

Josh Jacobs (DK $9,600 | FD $13,500)

Jacobs is the workhorse back for the Raiders. There were a lot of question marks about the Raiders bringing in running backs to be involved in the passing attack. However, he showed last week that he improved that aspect of his game. He had four receptions on six targets, which were second on the team only to Waller. He also ran for 93 yards and three touchdowns. Don’t expect him to have that big of a game but Jacobs will still get his points.
