Week 2 Preview: Minnesota Vikings vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts square off to see who can right the ship after a disappointing Week 1.

In order to do that, each team’s offense is going to need a rebound against a defense that struggled in its last game. On the other side, Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes, seven-year Viking, will be playing against his former team this week.

Kirk Cousins and co. will look for a better performance as they go against an Indianapolis defense that looked awful against the lowly Jaguars. However, the task might get tougher for their running back, as guard Pat Elflein has gone on injured reserve. Weakening their offensive line just in time for a good front seven like Indianapolis.

If fantasy players are in a pickle at the receiver spot, Olabisi Johnson could give a spark if placed in your lineup, as Minnesota may look to the air more.

On the flip side, Minnesota’s defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last week. While Philip Rivers isn’t Rodgers, the Colts have similar, if not better skill players than Green Bay. Look for running backs Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines to have their fingerprints all over this one.

Following a week with multiple interceptions, Rivers needs to have a bounce-back in Week 2. Given the struggles the Vikings’ defense had last week, it seems he should be poised with a strong opportunity to achieve that.

Sticking with the offense, T.Y. Hilton is also looking to rebound, following two key drops against the Jaguars.

Onto the defense, if the Colts front seven can slow down Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen, they will have a good shot at pulling this one out.

Prediction

As both defenses continue to find their footing, scoring should come aplenty in this one. Should the Colts find their identity and run behind Hines and Taylor, it will put more pressure on Minnesota.

As for the Vikings, if Indianapolis takes away Thielen in the passing game, it will mean trouble.

Final Score: Colts win, 27-21.
