NBA DFS Core Four 8/17/2020

The NBA playoffs are upon us after one of the weirdest seasons ever. Anyhow, the playoffs are here and we’re ready to make huge bank. There is lots of star power on this Monday, so let’s get to it.

All prices are DraftKings.

Luka Doncic ($11,000) | Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Clippers

Doncic could cost $15,000 and he’d still be a good pick here. He’s the definition of matchup-proof as he’s having an absolutely insane season. On the season, he’s averaging 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists, which is practically a double-double. The matchup today isn’t the prettiest, but we aren’t passing up the possibility of a triple-double from Doncic. He was named to the NBA All First “Bubble” Team. Doncic is a lock and load fire play, and he is one of the safer plays out there.

Kemba Walker ($6,900) | Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers

Kemba is cleared to return to action. Walker gets the play for one reason and one reason only: no Ben Simmons. Kemba is going to absolutely shred the 76ers defense apart. He is capable of filling up the stat sheet in a hurry and with hardly any defense on the 76ers’ side, he should thrive. Walker is averaging an impressive 20.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. He is going to get to the hoop with ease, and really give the 76ers defense a hard time. Shake Milton will have an extremely difficult time trying to contain Walker. He is the sure play here and will make the 76ers pay all day long.

Al Horford ($7,200) Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics

Horford is going to have to step up big if the 76ers want to advance to the next round. With no Simmons and a banged-up Joel Embiid, Horford is going to have to carry the team on his back. Horford is coming off a game where he scored nine points, four rebounds, and five assists. If the 76ers want to advance, they are going to need a whole lot more out of there big man. Horford should get the ball plenty in the first-round series with the Celtics. He should get the ball early and often, and make the Celtics big men work. A healthy Embiid would make it easier on Horford, so it’s to be seen. However, either way, Horford should explode soon and put up monster stats to propel the 76ers.

Ivica Zubac ($4,100) Los Angeles Clippers vs Dallas Mavericks

Major price alert error here. Zubac should not be priced this low given his recent play. He’s put up over 30 fantasy points in six of his last seven games. He is averaging 8.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Most importantly, he is cleaning the class, and grabbing every board that comes near him. He grabbed a monster 15 points in his game against the Denver Nuggets on Aug. 12. Zubac will dominate down-low against the fairly small Mavericks team. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Mavericks possibly even double Zubac. He is a steal at this price point and the biggest lock of the night.
