MLB Best Hitters Of The Week

MLB Best Hitters: Charlie Blackmon

This week’s best hitters are almost centralized in one division and looks to be a competitive one throughout this shortened season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. San Diego Padres

The Padres have been touted as the next emerging team with stars like Manny Machado, Eric Hosmer, and a young group of players like Chris Paddack and Fernando Tatis Jr. This second-generation shortstop is making a name for himself early in his sophomore season. Last week he led the league with six home runs, giving him a league-leading eight on the year. He is also sporting a slugging percentage of 1.107.

Charlie Blackmon Colorado Rockies

The Rockies have been a surprise this season, a big reason is the fact that they are leading the league in batting average. Blackmon’s bat was front and center this week; he led the league in average (.552), RBI (11), and on-base percentage (.588). Can Chuck Nazty hit .400?

Daniel Murphy Colorado Rockies

Blackmon was the best hitter in that Rockies’ lineup, but Murphy was right behind him. Last week he was second in average (.462) and RBI (10), helping the Rockies sit in first place in the National League West.

Xander Bogaerts Boston Red Sox

This very well could be a lost season for the Sox as they sit in last place in this short season. With Mookie Betts gone and Jackie Bradley Jr. a free agent after this season, Bogaerts is the guy they’ll look to build around.

He’s proving to be that guy as last week he led the American League in average (.444), second in the league in On-Base Percentage (.583) aided by a leading league 25% walk percentage.
