NBA Bubble: That Awkward Moment (Part 2)

Welcome to part 2 of this article where we breakdown how each game will feature at least one person facing a former team or teammate inside the NBA Bubble.

Note: Part 1 highlighted the games played during the first 8 days. (July 30 to August 6.)

August 7

Utah vs. San Antonio: Trey Lyles (injured San Antonio player) will be rooting against his former team.

Oklahoma City vs. Memphis: Assistant coach Mike Wilks had a short stint with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Sacramento vs. Brooklyn: Garrett Temple played for Sacramento Kings 2 years ago.

Orlando vs. Philadelphia: Markelle Fultz was a no. 1 draft pick in Philadelphia before moving to Orlando.

Washington vs. New Orleans: Josh Hart (New Orleans) vs. Moritz Wagner (Washington). These two were teammates for the Lakers last season.

Boston vs. Toronto: Assistant coach Adrian Griffin was a Boston Celtic during his playing days.

August 8

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Portland: Manager Neil Olshey used to work for the Clippers

Utah vs. Denver: Paul Millsap‘s career started in Utah.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Indiana: Frank Vogel used to coach the Indiana Pacers.

Phoenix vs. Miami: Derrick Jones Jr. used to do his high flying dunks in Phoenix.

Milwaukee vs. Dallas: Wesley Matthews used to play for the Dallas Mavericks.

August 9

Washington vs. Oklahoma City: Scott Brooks used to coach the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Memphis vs. Toronto: Kyle Lowry and Marc Gasol used to play for Memphis.

San Antonio vs. New Orleans: J.J. Redick (New Orleans) vs. Marco Belinelli (San Antonio). These two were former teammates in Philadelphia.

Orlando vs. Boston: D.J. Augustin (Orlando) vs. Enes Kanter (Boston). These two were teammates in Oklahoma City.

Philadelphia vs. Portland: Assistant coach Ime Udoka used to play for Portland.

Houston vs. Sacramento: Corey Brewer used to be a Houston Rocket.

Brooklyn vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Jamal Crawford is an ex-Clipper.

August 10

Oklahoma City vs. Phoenix: Cameron Payne was drafted by Oklahoma City.

Dallas vs. Utah: Trey Burke‘s career started in Utah.

Toronto vs. Milwaukee: Assistant coach Adrian Griffin used to be a part of Milwaukee’s coaching staff.

Indiana vs. Miami: Solomon Hill, ex-Indiana Pacer, will play his former team twice.

Denver vs. Los Angeles Lakers: JaVale McGee‘s career included a stop in Denver.

August 11

Brooklyn vs. Orlando: Coach Jacque Vaughn used to play for the Orlando Magic.

Houston vs. San Antonio: DeMarre Carroll‘s season started in San Antonio and he ended up in Houston.

Phoenix vs. Philadelphia: Dario Saric played for Philadelphia 2 years ago.

Portland vs. Dallas: Seth Curry‘s career included a stop in Portland.

Boston vs. Miami: Kelly Olynyk was a Boston Celtic before moving to Miami.

New Orleans vs. Sacramento: 3-point champion Buddy Hield was drafted by New Orleans.

Milwaukee vs. Washington: Assistant Coach Darvin Ham used to play for Washington.

August 12

Indiana vs. Houston: Jeremy Lamb was drafted by Houston.

Toronto vs. Philadelphia: Stanley Johnson (Toronto) vs. Tobias Harris (Philadelphia). These two were teammates in Detroit.

Miami vs. Oklahoma City: Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan used to coach Udonis Haslem (Miami) during their days with the Florida Gators.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Denver: Assistant Coach John Welch used to be a part of Denver’s coaching staff.

August 13

Washington vs. Boston: Assistant Coach Tony Brown used to be a part of Boston’s coaching staff.

Portland vs. Brooklyn: Jamal Crawford is a former Portland TrailBlazer.

Sacramento vs. Los Angeles Lakers: Corey Brewer played for the Lakers a few years ago.

Milwaukee vs. Memphis: Coach Taylor Jenkins was a part of Milwaukee’s coaching staff last year.

New Orleans vs. Orlando: J.J. Redick was drafted by Orlando.

Dallas vs. Phoenix: Seth Curry had a short stint with the Phoenix Suns.

San Antonio vs. Utah: Trey Lyles (injured San Antonio player) will be rooting against his former team.

August 14

Philadelphia vs. Houston: Robert Covington was a key player during his days in Philadelphia.

Miami vs. Indiana: Solomon Hill, ex-Indiana Pacer, will meet his former team for the second time.

Oklahoma City vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Chris Paul played a big role for the ‘Lob City’ Clippers.

Denver vs. Toronto: Manager Masai Ujiri used to be a part of Denver’s front office.

Done. We Did it. We just realized that every contest in the 16 days of “Seeding Games” will have at least one person facing a former team or teammate. It’s a small NBA World after all.
