NBA Bubble: Orlando Connection

Every sports fan will know about the 2019-2020 NBA season that’s about to resume in Florida’s Disney World. It’s quite unique because ALL teams will be playing in one location. They’re calling it the “NBA Bubble” and we’re all hoping it won’t burst. Continuing the NBA season is no joke though especially in this extraordinary time.

All eyes are on Orlando and we will now take a look at how the other 29 NBA teams are connected to the Orlando Magic organization. Let’s see where this goes.

Atlanta Hawks have Dewayne Dedmon… who used to play for Orlando.

Boston Celtics have Brad Stevens. Stevens used to coach Keith Bogans. Keith Bogans was acquired by Orlando via draft day trade.

See? You probably know how this works now…

Brooklyn Nets have interim coach Jacque Vaughn… who used to play for Orlando.

Charlotte Hornets have Bismack Biyombo… who used to play for Orlando.

Chicago Bulls have assistant coach Chris Fleming. Fleming was part of Brooklyn’s coaching staff with Vaughn. Vaughn used to play for Orlando.

Cleveland Cavaliers have J.B. Bickerstaff. Bickerstaff used to coach Dwight Howard in Houston. Howard was drafted by Orlando.

Dallas Mavericks: Courtney Lee was drafted by Orlando.

Denver Nuggets have Noah Vonleh. Vonleh and Shabazz Napier were Minnesota teammates. Napier used to play for Orlando.

Detroit Pistons have coach Dwane Casey.  Casey used to coach Terrence Ross in Toronto. Ross plays for Orlando.

Golden State Warriors: Coach Steve Kerr used to play for Orlando.

Houston Rockets: Jeff Green used to play for Orlando.

Indiana Pacers: Victor Oladipo was drafted by Orlando. You could also include Domantas Sabonis who was selected by Orlando before being traded to Oklahoma City.

Los Angeles Clippers: Doc Rivers used to coach Orlando.

Los Angeles Lakers: Frank Vogel used to coach Orlando.

Memphis Grizzlies have coach Taylor Jenkins. Jenkins worked with Ersan Ilyasova in Milwaukee. Ilyasova played for Orlando.

Miami Heat: Assistant coach Malik Allen used to play for Orlando.

Milwaukee Bucks: Ilyasova used to play for Orlando.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Jake Layman was drafted by Orlando.

New Orleans Pelicans: J.J. Redick was drafted by Orlando.

New York Knicks: Elfrid Payton was acquired by Orlando via draft day Trade.

Oklahoma City Thunder: Billy Donovan used to coach Oladipo. Oladipo was drafted by Orlando.

Philadelphia 76ers: Tobias Harris used to play for Orlando.

Phoenix Suns: Dario Saric was drafted by Orlando.

Portland Trailblazers: Trevor Ariza used to play for Orlando.

Sacramento Kings minority owner is Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq was drafted by Orlando.

San Antonio Spurs have Gregg Popovich. Popovich used to coach Kerr, who used to play for Orlando.

Toronto Raptors: Serge Ibaka used to play for Orlando.

Utah Jazz: Ed Davis is with the Jazz. Davis and Moe Harkless were Portland teammates. Harkless used to play for Orlando.

Washington Wizards: Napier used to play for Orlando.

Done… we did it!

Is Orlando the Center of the NBA World? No… Not really… but it will feel that way when the NBA season resumes on July 30th.
