This week the Pro Invitational Series heads to virtual Dover. This will likely be the second to last Pro Invitational Series race. The NASCAR Cup series has a plan in place to come back starting May 17th at Darlington. That will come with multiple Cup, Xfinity, and Truck races throughout the week. The formatting for those races will be a little different than normal. Dale and I are both excited to get things going with the real races again. However, we are still excited to bring you our top drivers for the next couple of eRaces as well.
Last week our picks at Talladega took a hit with some late-race wrecks. It was a wild race with all the wrecks so it was very tough to pick. This week we will try to bounce back and get back to our winning ways. Dover is a totally different style of racing than Talladega. The racing will be exciting and the wrecks will not be huge pile-ups like last week. Time to dive into our top drivers for this week’s eRace at Dover.
High Salary Driver
Timmy Hill ($12,000 DK and $12,000 FD)
Hill has been a fantastic DFS driver during this Pro Invitational Series, which given his rich iRacing history hasn’t been a surprise. Had it not been for that timely block on the last lap by Byron two weeks ago at virtual Richmond Raceway. The No. 66 would have had half the Invitational wins. Last Sunday’s race at virtual Talladega Superspeedway, in which Hill would finish outside of the top 10, was purely an anomaly. As you consider your high stakes drivers this weekend for the Monster Mile, select Hill with confidence.-Dale
William Byron ($13,000 DK and $16,000 FD)
It’s tough not to-go with Byron. He is easily one of the best iRacers in the field. He has won two out of five races in the Pro Invitational Series. Both of those wins came at short tracks. His first win was at Bristol which is a half-mile. Then he won at Richmond which is three-quarters of a mile. Now it’s time for him to win on a mile-long track. Byron continues to show his dominance in iRacing every week. He is worth paying up for and there’s a reason his odds to win the race are the highest at 7-5.-Brandon
Mid-Level
Parker Kligerman ($9,700 DK and $9,500 FD)
Kligerman had a rough outing last week at virtual Talladega, racking up a top 16 finish. Ill cut Kligerman some slack, given a lot of the good name drivers would not fare that well in what would become an all-out wreck fest. It was only a week prior at virtual Richmond, Kligerman would collect a strong third-place outcome after giving Hill a run for his money. I expect a long time veteran iRacer like Kligerman to get his head back on straight this Sunday and have a good performance at the Monster Mile.-Dale
Kyle Busch ($ 9,100 DK and $9,000 FD)
It was two weeks that I went with my hunch, and selected Rowdy as my value play. Busch would come through with a nice breakout performance, in which he would finish with a top-five result. And to prove it wasn’t an aberration, the following week at virtual Talladega, Busch would come through with a top-eight place showing. His last three Dover events have resulted in top ten finishes. The No. 18 has shown to have finally gotten his feet under him and should continue to perform well as that solid value play.-Dale
Value Driver
Daniel Suarez ($5,700 DK and $5,000 FD)
Dover is easily one of Suarez’s best tracks in the NASCAR Cup Series. Even though the race is virtual, a lot of things are still similar. The racing groves and tire wear are very similar to the real track. Suarez has finished in the top 15 in all six races at Dover in his Cup Series career. Suarez finally got a good setup for eRacing. The first couple of iRaces Suarez didn’t have much of a setup. He is getting more experience and his iRacing skills are improving. He is a great cheap option this week and I expect him to use his experience at Dover to score a lot of fantasy points this week.-Brandon
