NASCAR DFS Auto Club Speedway

Brandon Braasch | March 1st, 2020

Week three of the NASCAR Cup Series is upon us. The drivers stay out west this weekend and head out to Fontana, California. The track is Auto Club Speedway and the race will be 200 laps. The track is wide enough to go five wide, and I expect it to be a hectic race. Below I will be providing my dominator, some contenders, and some underdog drivers.

Dominator

Alex Bowman ($8,800)

Bowman is coming off a very strong run last week and Las Vegas. If it wasn’t for a caution in the closing laps Bowman and Ryan Blaney would have been in one hell of a battle for the win. Bowman was also fastest in both practices this weekend and had the fastest 10 lap average in both practices. He is going to be tough to beat this week especially starting upfront in third.

Contenders

Ryan Blaney ($9,400)

Blaney is currently the leader in points. He has a second-place finish and an eleventh place finish. Like I said earlier Bowman and Blaney were going to have a great battle for the finish last week in Las Vegas. He will be starting mid-pack in the 16th position. He was second fastest in final practice so he has a fast Ford Mustang. You can expect to see him fighting in the top ten most of the race.

Martin Truex Jr. ($10,400)

Truex’s car failed inspection three times. That is going to force him to start at the back of the field. He is in a great spot to get a lot of place differential points. Even if he only makes it into the top 15 he will get 23 points just off place differential. His last three finishes at Auto Club Speedway was eighth, first, and fourth. He can clearly get it done and has the opportunity to accumulate a bunch of fantasy points.

Underdogs

Austin Dillon ($7,400)

Dillon has been very consistent in his career at Auto Club. He has an average finish of 13.7. He has finished 10th or 11th in four out of six races. He’s coming off a fourth-place finish last week and will be starting 25th this week. If he is able to finish in the top eleven for the fifth time in his career at Auto Club he will be a great value driver.

Ross Chastain ($6,500)

Chastain is filling in for Ryan Newman for a second consecutive week. He was running in the top 15 for a good amount of the race last week. He got into Kurt Busch on a restart which forced him to an unscheduled pit stop. He then spun with less than ten laps to go which cost him any shot at a decent finish. He did, however, show strength with a 10th place finish in stage one. With him starting 27th I like his chances to make his way towards the front and pick up fantasy points for place differential.
