The time is here, your championship weekend and huge congratulations on getting here. Though the work isn’t done yet and it’s time to finish off the competition and make your league championship yours! I went 0-4 in my leagues unfortunately due to my offensive players dropping the ball in most of the leagues. Plus, the Lamar Jackson factor which affected most of the semi-final matchups. So, if you defeated him, well done. Let’s go on to last week’s selections.
Jarran Reed didn’t take advantage of the matchup unfortunately and it resulted in a dismal showing of two tackles only. Donald Payne had another great showing with 13 total tackles and a pass defended. He could be a potential championship-winning piece for your IDP leagues. Go pick him up and start him! Tavon Wilson had a decent game coming out with six total tackles. Nothing fancy but solid. Kevin Pierre-Louis also had a decent game, having a quiet five solo tackles. He along with fellow linebacker teammate Nick Kwiatkoski still could solidly plugin guys this week. Now on to week 16.
Defensive Line
Maxx Crosby, Oakland Raiders
Crosby has had a rather nice rookie season so far. He’s racked up 40 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles so far with leading the team in 25 quarterback pressures and 13 total hits. He’s pushing for double-digit sacks his first year out and could potentially do it against the Chargers on Sunday. In the Chargers’ last four games alone, they have given up 10 total sacks, to go along with two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Crosby might be a league winner if needing a last-minute plug and play.
Linebacker
Joe Walker, Arizona Cardinals
If you are in a deeper league or needing a streamer, Walker could be a good play this week. He’s pretty much an every downplays with his last three weeks playing 95 percent of the snaps. In those three games, he’s racked up 18 total tackles and seven of them were from last week to go along with a forced fumble. Now he gets a Seahawks matchup which is favorable. The Seahawks run the ball an average 47 percent of the time and leads to plenty of tackle opportunities. Last week Luke Kuechly managed a 17 total tackle showing against them. Walker could be in for a big day Sunday.
Defensive Back
Tyrann Mathieu, Kansas City Chiefs
I’ve put off writing about Mathieu all season out of bias due to him leaving my Texans but I can’t ignore him anymore. As much as his season had been hit and miss for 2019, he’s playing 100 percent of the snaps in all but four games and continues to get consistency. He now gets a juicy matchup against the Bears who rank in the top-10 in giving up fantasy points to defensive backs. In his last four games, he has 20 total tackles and a sack. He is heavily involved in the blitzing scheme and could get another sack this week.
Normally I’d write in a sleeper here but there is no need to get cute in your finals. Play the guys who have gotten you here and studs that continue to produce. Don’t need to chase points.
Remember to never hesitate to reach out with all your IDP league questions and continue to be on the lookout for dynasty setting and 2020 redraft articles throughout the offseason! Now go win your championship. Good luck and go get ‘em!
