It’s that time of year again. Here are three burning questions for the Seattle Seahawks.
Will Russell Wilson have another MVP-caliber season?
If not for the performance of Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson could have easily walked away with the MVP award as he led the Seahawks to another double-digit win season.
Wilson’s unofficial favorite target, Tyler Lockett, and last season’s breakout rookie, D.K. Metcalf, will combine with the offseason additions of former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen and former Patriots wideout Phillip Dorsett to form the best receiving corps that Wilson has played with.
Metcalf, barring a sophomore slump, will have more of a role and a better season statistically.
The Seahawks may even bring back Josh Gordon if he is reinstated by the NFL. He was just beginning to get some targets last season before his most recent suspension.
Can their running backs stay healthy?
The season and the offensive complexion changed when running backs Rashaad Penny and Chris Carson, who share a bulk of the carries, were placed on injured reserve after late-season injuries.
The team was so desperate for a running game as the postseason was approaching that they brought Marshawn Lynch out of retirement. Much to the fans’ dismay, Lynch was not Beast Mode when he returned to football. By the time he was getting adequate touches, the Seahawks were eliminated from the playoffs.
Penny and Carson being healthy coupled with the addition of Carlos Hyde should spell positivity for the running back unit entering 2020.
Will they make another playoff run?
While the defending NFC champions play in the same division, the Seahawks are the clear playoff favorites across the board. Similar to last season, this division will likely come down to the two head-to-head matchups against the 49ers.
This season could see both teams representing the NFL West in the playoffs but with the Seahawks winning the division and the Niners being a Wild Card team.
