Why Jadeveon Clowney to the Jets Would Be a Perfect Fit

The New York Jets have been very active this offseason, especially in free agency, as they have gone on to sign some high-level players such as Greg Van Roten, Connor McGovern, Jordan Jenkins, and others.

Last offseason, they signed running back Le’Veon Bell and in the prior offseason, they inked linebacker C.J. Mosley.

The Jets have been attempting to build a contender, and as they continue that process, being in the dominant New York market is helping them out.

Big-name players love New York as they are able to market themselves much better.  The Jets have an exciting young core based around safety Jamal Adams and quarterback Sam Darnold, and they have been logistically adding to that. They do, however, have a small hole on the defensive side and are in need of a star defensive end ever since dealing Leonard Williams.

To bolster the defense and help out with Quinnen Williams’s development, adding another defensive end would just make sense. Now, the perfect fight is just one big contract away.

Jadeveon Clowney has always loved the spotlight, and that spotlight doesn’t get brighter than New York, especially when your other choices are Cleveland, Tennessee, and Seattle.

Clowney is a former first-overall pick of the Texans, with whom he played his career up until last season, when he played for the Seattle Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named a second-team All-Pro in 2016. In his career, he has 32 sacks and 236 total tackles.

Clowney, who would surely love New York, also looking for the most money and besides Seattle, which seems to have some issues with Clowney on other fronts, New York is the richest of all the interested franchises. Further, Clowney would join a much-improved Jets team in a wide-open AFC East. The appeal to contend for the Super Bowl now and for years to come should be big in Clowney’s eyes.

The Jets have plenty of star power, it is New York, the money is there, the media will love him, and the fans are top-notch. It doesn’t get much better than that.
