The Carolina Panthers have signed New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson to a two-year, $20 million deal with $11 million guaranteed in the first year. Anderson played for the Panthers’ new head coach, Matt Rhule, while Rhule was at Temple.  He joins newly-signed quarterback P.J. Walker on the list of former Owls now in Carolina.

Anderson joined the Jets in 2016, spending his entire career with the organization before joining the Panthers on Wednesday afternoon. He played 62 games with the Jets, starting 47 of them.

Anderson has posted 207 career receptions for 3059 yards and 20 touchdowns in 3136 offensive snaps with the Jets. During the 2019 season, he recorded 52 receptions for 779 yards and five touchdowns. During the two seasons he played at Temple, Anderson posted 114 receptions for 1730 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Anderson joins Stephen Weatherly, John Miller, Teddy Bridgewater, Tahir Whitehead, Juston Burris, Pharoh Cooper, and Russell Okung on the growing list of 2020 free-agent acquisitions.

Carolina’s offensive line is shaping up nicely, and with the leadership of the new coaches, the Panthers should produce better offensively in the coming season.
