Can Newton’s run in Carolina has finally come to an end.

After days and days of working the phone lines hoping to find a trade partner, the m Panthers have had no choice but to wish a farewell to Newton.

This divorce was hinted at last week when the Panthers signed Teddy Bridgewater to a three-year, $60 million deal. The Panthers also signed XFL star P.J. Walker and traded Kyle Allen.

Newton was the true franchise quarterback until he got hurt in the middle of the 2018 season and missed the bulk of 2019. The fans in Carolina loved him and he appears to love Carolina.

Releasing him will leave Carolina with $2 million of dead cap but clears $19.1 million in cap space.
