Report: Kevin Durant, 3 Nets Players Test Positive for COVID-19

Kevin Durant has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

This news comes on the heels of the recent announcement that four players from the Brooklyn Nets tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of known cases in the NBA to seven.

Durant has since said he feels fine but has encouraged everyone to be cautious.

“Everyone, be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine. We’re going to get through this,” Durant said to The Athletic.

Durant joins Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, Christian Wood of the Detroit Pistons, and the three other unidentified cases from the Brooklyn Nets as the known cases of the novel coronavirus that have been identified throughout the league.

Sources say the Nets tested each member of the team and staff after flying back from San Francisco last Thursday, and that four player-tests came back positive. Three of the four Brooklyn players who tested positive were asymptomatic, with Durant being one of them.

The team notified anyone who had recently been in contact with the team, including recent opponents, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, and Boston Celtics.

As the coronavirus continues to disrupt the sports world, Kevin Durant joins the list of prominent athletes who have contracted the virus. The NBA remains shut down until further notice, with hopeful optimism that the league could return to action towards the end of the summer.
