Odell Beckham Jr. Linked to Cowboys Through Mentor Adam Henry

The Dallas Cowboys are interviewing Cleveland Browns, Adam Henry for their vacancy at wide receivers coach.

Former wide receiver coach, Sanjay Lal was informed last week he would not be returning which opened up another position on new head coach Mike McCarthy’s coaching staff.

The interview with Adam Henry is sending Cowboy fans into a frenzy in relation to the Henry and Odell Beckham Jr’s. relationship.

Henry served as Beckham’s position coach at LSU.  Henry also followed Beckham to the NFL and coached him while he was with the Giants and while in Cleveland.

Speculation is that if Henry is hired by the Cowboys, he will persuade the organization to go after Beckham.

Amari Cooper is expected to become a free agent, so a tough decision here to be made.  The Cowboys would have to give up a lot to acquire Beckham through a trade.  To a point it makes sense to trade for Beckham.

With Cooper demanding top wide-receiver money, it may be worth it to spend a bit more and get a dynamic receiver like Beckham.

Beckham comes with an ego though.  He was recently criticized for handing out real money to LSU players after winning the national championship a few days ago. An arrest warrant was also issued out for the wide receiver in New Orleans. The Cowboys are not afraid to take a risk with high attention athletes, especially wide-receivers.

Here’s why it probably won’t happen.  The Cowboys can’t keep Cooper and trade for Beckham.  Not signing Cooper will be wasting a first round draft pick, so Cooper will at least get a franchise tag placed on him, if a huge future deal isn’t signed.

However, it has been reported that the Cowboys are on the “fence” with keeping Cooper.  Cooper struggled immensely on the road and had key drops in huge game changing moments.

Second year receiver, Michael Gallup proved that he can handle the No. 1 position which gives the Cowboys a bit of leverage here.  This year’s college draft class for wide-receivers is top notch, so the Cowboys may be looking towards the draft for a Cooper replacement.

If Henry does get the job, make no mistake, he will improve the receiving core immediately.  So, no matter what, this would be a great and smart hire for McCarthy and company.  The Cowboys are looking to hoist the Super Bowl trophy immediately.

Jerry Jones is about to spend a ton of money and there is too much talent on this team not to make a deep run as soon as next year.

The team does not have a second to spare as they are hiring a “super” staff.  However, they also have 30 players that could potentially be free agents very soon, so time can’t be wasted.

Rumors are also circulating about Dez Bryant wanting to rejoin the team.  It may be a smart choice here to bring him in and transition him into a tight-end position.  He can block, run routes and he certainly would have an impact in the red-zone.

He has never been known to have great route running techniques, so this may be a genius move by Bryant and by McCarthy.
