Fantasy Football News & Views: Week 13 Warmup

Fantasy Football News & Views posts twice weekly: Warmup kick-starts your fantasy football planning, and Last Looks makes sure you’re ready to roll out your rosters.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

As we reflect on a somewhat bizarre Week 12, let’s just chalk up the abysmal performances of a startling number of our starters to misfortune, including Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper, Patriots running back James White, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (did anyone else just plain dump him after the game without even waiting for a waiver claim?), Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, Packers running back Aaron Jones, Giants running back Saquon Barkley, and Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder, just to name a few.

It’s Thanksgiving, after all. Eat, drink, be merry, and forget that every expert out there urged you to start Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton last week.

To those of you who are still in contention for a spot in your league’s championships, congratulations on weathering Week 12. Now, it’s time to focus on what lies ahead.

Start

  • Do I even need to list the “must start every week or you may be deemed unfit ever to play fantasy football again” players? (Hint: Michael ThomasAlvin Kamara.)
  • Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been a solid fantasy option for weeks. The Cowboys can be tough on quarterbacks, but Allen still has the potential to post good numbers.
  • Bears running back David Montgomery may have burned you with his underwhelming performances over the last several games, but this is a great matchup for him as far as volume is concerned. He should get a lot of touches.
  • Bills running back Devin Singletary finally had a breakout game last week and with the volume he sees, he has become an every-week starter.
  • Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been on a hot streak and has scored four times in the three games he has played against the Saints.

Sit

  • Bills running back Frank Gore is no longer a viable fantasy option now that Devin Singletary is back.
  • Cowboys wide receiver Randall Cobb will be hard to trust this week against Buffalo’s defense, which has allowed no touchdowns and the fewest fantasy points to the slot.

Injury Update

The good news is we can say buh-bye to bye weeks. We get all our players back now. The ones who are healthy, that is. Not surprisingly, at this point in the season, the injuries have piled up, so be sure to monitor the injury reports as game time approaches.

Out

  • Falcons tight end Austin Hooper (knee)
  • Bears wide receiver Taylor Gabriel (concussion)
  • Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (hip/back)
  • Colts tight end Eric Ebron (ankle, placed on IR)

Questionable

  • Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (shoulder)
  • Panthers wide receiver D.J. Moore (ankle)
  • Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson (shoulder)

  • Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz (hand)
  • Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (shoulder)

Active

  • Falcons running back Devonta Freeman (foot)
