Heller’s Week 13 Picks

It’s most fans’ favorite day of the NFL season: Thanksgiving. Family, friends, food, and a triple dose of football are served up on this Thursday. This week of football sees some very intriguing matchups.

I went 8-6 in Week 12. Here are my picks for Week 13.

Bears 17, Lions 14

This divisional matchup will be a defensive game. The Bears have the better defense, therefore they’ll leave Motown with the win.

Bills 27, Cowboys 20

Josh Allen, with the help of his defense, will get the victory here, prompting more cryptic postgame comments from Jerry Jones.

Saints 34, Falcons 30

The last time these two teams met, Drew Brees spent quite a bit of time on his back. This time around, Brees and the Saints will win and clinch their division.

Buccaneers 24, Jaguars 10

Jameis Winston will lead his team to victory over the Jags, but not without throwing a few more interceptions. The Florida bragging rights will belong to Tampa Bay this time around.

Jets 31, Bengals 20

A few weeks ago, it looked like this game would all but decide the No. 1 pick in the draft. That deed now belongs strictly to the Bengals, as the Jets will win this one easy. Bengals coach Zac Taylor will still be looking for that first career coaching victory.

Upset: Titans 35, Colts 14

Derrick Henry will continue to climb to the leading rusher spot with another 150-plus-yard, two-touchdown game. The Titans will replicate what they did last week against Jacksonville. Come Monday morning, they could share first place in the AFC South.

Upset: Eagles 24, Dolphins 28

The Dolphins, behind Ryan Fitzpatrick, will upset Carson Wentz and the Eagles in Miami.

Packers 42, Giants 30

Aaron Rodgers will take his frustrations from last week’s thrashing out on the Giants. Daniel Jones and the New York offense will play well but come up short.

Browns 24, Steelers 13

Ali Frazier, take two. While the Steelers currently are in the final playoff spot, the Browns’ offense is finally coming together. I expect another big game from Jarvis Landry in this one.

Redskins 17, Panthers 34

Christian McCaffrey will carry the Panthers on his back to a sizeable victory over Dwayne Haskins and the Redskins. McCaffrey will take a selfie or two with the home fans after the game.

49ers 27, Ravens 34

The 49ers have dominated every team they have played, except the Seahawks. But they have not seen the likes of MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson. The Ravens’ quarterback will lead his team to the win, and the NFL could just hand him the MVP trophy at the end of the game.

Upset: Rams 17, Cardinals 24

Jared Goff and the Rams’ offense will once again struggle. Kyler Murray will lead his team to the home win.

Chargers 27, Broncos 20

While Philip Rivers has struggled, I still think he is better than Brandon Allen. He also plays better inside the division.

Raiders 17, Chiefs 42

If this game was last week, I may have picked the upset. However, the Raiders come in after an embarrassing loss to the Jets and have no chance against the Chiefs coming off the bye.

Patriots 27, Texans 17

Brady and Belichick always plan well, especially for the big games and for another week, the Patriots’ defense will be the X-factor, leading the team to their 11th win.

Vikings 24, Seahawks 27

Although I was leaning with the upset here, Russell Wilson at home on Monday night equals a Seahawks victory.

I hope you and your families have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

2024 NFL Bold Predictions: AFC West

The AFC West had little to talk about beyond the Kansas City Chiefs. The Los Angeles Charges have been the next closest team to make something happen, but they inevitably fall short. The Denver Broncos have been what some might call a dumpster fire or a QB carousel, and the Las Vegas Raiders have been…well…Raidering.
