Brady and Belichick’s Take on N’Keal Harry’s Debut, Advice Julian Edelman Gave the Rookie

Rookie wide receiver N’Keal Harry made his regular-season debut that was met with his positive reviews.

But with two receivers in Mohamed Sanu and Phillip Dorsett II. likely sitting out Sunday, the Arizona State alum is in line for an exponentially bigger role.

Quarterback Tom Brady gave his take on how his new receiver did in his first taste of regular-season play.

“N’Keal has worked hard. He got some opportunities (Sunday). We’ve just got to try to get him up to speed,” Brady told reporters. “He missed a lot of football. We’re going to try to incorporate him the best way we can and use his skills to see if he can be a productive player for us in the second half of the year.”

The quarterback’s targets to start the year were Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Antonio Brown, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski. The unit, needless to say, has gone through a huge overhaul.

Head coach Bill Belichick is going to need his first-round selection to hit the ground running and is impressed with what the rookie has been able to do thus far.

“I thought N’Keal competed well. There were some good things. There were some other things we’ll have to clean up and improve on, but it’s good to have him out there, for him to get an opportunity to play,” Belichick said. “There’s certainly a lot of things he can learn from that game and improve on, which we all can. Especially for his first regular-season game, there were some positive things and some corrections too.”

Every player was a rookie once and Harry’s fellow wide receiver Julian Edelman unveiled the advice he gave the Arizona State alum.

“The advice I give to young players is to know your material inside and out,” he said. “If you know your material going into a game, the installation of the offense, what their defense is doing and the tendencies that they do,” Edelman told Greg Hill. “When you have all that stuff and you’re not thinking about that, that’s when you can start using your athletic ability. That is when you can start becoming creative in running a route or setting up something in your game.”
