March 12, 12:50 p.m.: Anthony Barr is reportedly calling off the deal he intended to sign with the New York Jets so he can re-sign with the Minnesota Vikings, a source tells NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the Vikings were able to outbid the Jets before Barr could sign the deal in N.Y., and will bring back Barr on a five-year, $67.5 million contract that can be worth $77.5 million. The deal includes $33 million in guaranteed money, Rapoport hears.

The New York Jets are in agreement on a contract with star free agent linebacker Anthony Barr, a source tells ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Terms have not been disclosed.

Barr, who turns 27 in one week, has posted fabulous stats throughout his five seasons in the league since being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Barr started all 71 of the games he played in and has been selected to the last four Pro Bowls.
Through 13 starts in 2018, Barr defended two passes and forced one fumble while picking up three sacks and 55 tackles.
The UCLA product was projected to receive an average annual salary of $8.4 million in the form of a five-year, $42 million contract, so it will be interesting to see how close this projection is to the actual deal.
After signing two receivers, the Jets make a clutch addition to their defensive backfield ahead of the new league year.
