Patriots Coordinator Likely Heading to Lions

It appears that one of the New England Patriot’s assistant coaches has their ideal destination in mind as multiple reports have surfaced that Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will almost certainly accept the Detroit Lion’s head coaching job.

The head coaching vacancy left by Jim Caldwell seems like the most ideal situation for Patricia as he will be reunited with Lion’s General Manager Bob Quinn who was a player personnel assistant with the Patriots as well as director of pro scouting.

On the other side of the ball, reports have surfaced that Patriots offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Josh McDaniels is one of the two finalists for the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job. McDaniels is competing with former Patriots linebacker and Houston defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel for the job.

This would be McDaniel’s second opportunity to be a head coach after first coaching the Denver Broncos for less than two seasons finishing with an 11-17 record.

It doesn’t stop there as the Patriots could lose a third coach at the end of the season. Adam Schefter reported that the Arizona Cardinals are strongly considering hiring linebackers coach Brian Flores to be their next head coach.

Flores has had many roles with the Patriots throughout his entire tenure with the team including scouting assistant, pro scout, special teams assistant, offensive assistant, defensive assistant, safeties coach, and linebackers coach.

The Patriots await to see who which team they will play in the AFC Championship next Sunday.
