Cam Ward had one prime chance to put an exclamation point on his NFL Draft stock, and he delivered in spectacular fashion at the University of Miami’s Pro Day.
With Tennessee Titans decision-makers in full attendance, Ward turned in a throwing session that left little doubt: he is the top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Titans sent a star-studded contingent to Coral Gables, Fla., underscoring their serious interest in Ward. Present were newly appointed general manager Mike Borgonzi, assistant general manager Dave Ziegler, head coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz, and quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree.
Additionally, prominent scouting personnel—including Chad Brinker (president of football operations), A.J. Highsmith (scouting director), and Reggie McKenzie (vice president/football advisor)—took in Ward’s session.
At the same time, Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ official website and in-house media team members documented the event.

Cam Ward’s Pro Day Performance
Ward’s performance justified the heavy Titans presence. Over a session spanning 50 to 60 throws, he showcased precision at all three levels of the field. Early in the workout, he rattled off 12 minutes of consecutive completions, hitting receivers in stride with remarkable consistency. The offseason focus on his footwork was evident—his base looked clean, and his balance on deep, outbreaking routes stood out as a particular strength. While his right foot occasionally strayed wider than ideal, his movement in and out of the pocket was fluid, and his ability to throw on the run was nothing short of elite.

Ward made a conscious effort to take more snaps from under center, an area of concern given his college background. The transition looked smooth, further reinforcing his adaptability to an NFL-style offense. The decision to forego throwing at the NFL Scouting Combine, instead opting for this Pro Day spotlight, proved to be a calculated masterstroke. His private quarterback coach revealed that Ward wanted his Miami receivers to get their deserved attention, demonstrating the leadership and self-awareness that NFL teams covet.
Impressions and Takeaways
Titans head coach Brian Callahan emphasized the value of seeing Ward in person, stating, “I love the tape, but being in person adds another piece.”
NFL analyst Brian Baldinger echoed that sentiment, noting that Ward is “a much better prospect today than he was if he came out of Washington State a year ago.”
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert summed it up succinctly: “He can make every throw on the field with ease, from multiple arm angles, and with multiple trajectories to the same spots. The film doesn’t lie.”
Even Miami head coach Mario Cristobal weighed in, marveling at Ward’s instincts: “A guy like that sees things you sometimes can’t coach or draw up. You don’t handcuff a player like that.”
With this performance, Cam Ward did more than just solidify himself as the top quarterback in the class. He also made a compelling case for being the No. 1 overall pick. If the Titans were leaning toward selecting a franchise-changing signal-caller, they might have just found their man.
