NFL Team of the Week - Colts QB Anthony Richardson

The National Football League is currently in its most chaotic stage.

Some previously winless teams managed to secure a win, except for the Jaguars. Meanwhile, undefeated teams experienced their first loss, such as the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Indianapolis Colts, who defeated the Steelers, have been selected as the Team of the Week for NFL Week 4.

The Flacc is Back

In his first NFL game since the 2023 playoffs, Joe Flacco made a comeback, this time with the Colts. He stepped in for the injured Anthony Richardson and arguably performed better than the second-year Florida product. Flacco completed 16 of 26 passes for 168 yards and threw two touchdowns to Josh Downs and Alec Ogletree. Flacco is wheeling and dealing the football at nearly 40 years old.

Richardson Injury

Richardson suffered a left hip injury near the end of the first quarter of the game. Before getting injured, he completed three of four passes for 71 yards and ran three times for 24 yards. The injury is not considered serious, and there’s a possibility that Richardson will play this Sunday. The Colts could keep Richardson active for the game but start Flacco. That way, if something happens to Flacco or he plays poorly, Richardson can step in.

Colts Knock Off an Undefeated Team

Before this game, the Steelers seemed like the team to beat in the AFC North. Now, the division looks more complicated. The Steelers are 3-1 but just one win ahead of the Baltimore Ravens. Meanwhile, the Colts have moved into second in the AFC South at 2-2.

Colts Defense Tore Justin Fields Apart

The Indianapolis defense met Steelers quarterback Justin Fields often, sacking him three times. Tyquan Lewis had a half sack, Chris Lammons had one sack, and Dayo Odeyingbo had one and a half sacks. Additionally, the defense forced Fields to fumble the ball, leading to more opportunities for the Colts’ offense. E.J. Speed had an outstanding game with 12 solo tackles. The Colts’ defense made the Steelers’ offense appear ineffective, almost as if they still had Matt Canada on their coaching staff.

Looking Ahead

The Colts’ next three games are against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tennessee Titans, and the Miami Dolphins. These three games are very winnable. If they can play safe and smart football, the Colts can be a playoff team come December and January.
